Artists Around the World (blog hop)

Hi Everyone!
I was asked by the lovely and talented Gracie Howle to join the Artists around the world blog hop! Everyone was asked to answer four questions. I am not someone who likes to talk about myself but I will give it my best!

Question 1
Why do you do what you do?

I can't remember a time when I didn't draw or make some kind of craft. My Mom always had stuff for me and my brothers to paint and my grandma owned a ceramic shop that we spent a lot of time in. I really miss that! I get bored easily and art is my go to. I love it! I need it! It is my getaway.

Question 2
How does your work differ from others of its genre?

I guess that it differs because of the medium I use? I love to mix acrylics and colored pencil which  as far as I know most aren't doing.  I have been told that I have a style that people recognize.

Question 3
How does your creative process work?

Good question :)
I think this depends on what I am in the mood for. I like to create things fast! Sometimes I might feel a little more ambitious and paint larger scale work but mostly I grab a piece of 4 x 6 watercolor paper, paint it with acrylics, draw a little lady on it and color. I don't really think to hard about it. Sometimes I will feel inspired by a picture or other art and try something like that. I have done more of that since joining Lifebook this year. The funnest art course I have ever taken by the way!

Question 4
What are you working on now?

Right now I am designing the Christmas board program for Penny Black Rubber Stamps. I have been  with them for 12 years! I can only show you a little peek of what I am doing as it is top secret until after the paper crafters show later this month!

Here are some of the pieces I have done just recently!

Thank you so much everyone for stopping in and reading my post! Please be sure to head over to Gracie's blog and read her story!!

Have a great day!

My Painted Ladies

Hello!
This has been the busiest year for Art I have ever had! In the last few years I have been doing more and more but this year I started taking Lifebook and it has lit a fire in me. I have found my style and figured out what mediums really work for me. That would be acrylics with colored pencil and watercolors. I love doing all sorts of art but these in particular are my go to. Here is what I have been working on.

Thanks for looking!

MIXED MEDIA with Penny Black Rubber Stamps

Hi Everyone!
Today I am so excited to share with you a mixed media piece I did for Penny Black.

I used an old postcard photo I have which I blew up to fit into the 6 x 9 wood piece I bought at Michaels. I covered the piece with acrylic dabbers from Ranger. I then glued down the lady with gel medium. I stamped the flowers with black staz-on. I laid the stencil on the piece and chalked the flowers on the background. I then painted the stamped flowers with paint from the dabbers. I stamped the butterflies on white c/s with black staz-on then cut them out and glued them down with gel medium. I used chalks and colored pencils to color the lady and add some texture to the piece. I laid my other flower stencil on her hair and used a white paint pen to make the flower in her hair. I used white gesso for highlights and the dress. I also used black and white gesso to make the splatters over the piece.

Below are the products I used from Penny Black and the photo for you to use in your mixed media piece! Don't forget to head over to the Penny Black Blog where they will be featuring more of my designs for the new line and they are also having a giveaway!!!
Thanks for stopping by :)
