Penny Black and Faber-Castell Mixed media Journal and a chance to win!

All this week at the Penny Black Blog the designers are sharing a new product from Faber-Castell.

It is this awesome little mixed media Journal! I loved working on these pages and  I know you will too!

Today is my turn and I have a tutorial to help inspire you to make your own journal pages!

First I drew a figure on my page with pencil. You can print and use this image if you like.

Next photocopy the image to make a mask.

Color rubber stamp with Gelatos, spritz with water then stamp over entire page.

Color girl starting with pitt pastel pencils then colored pencils. Stamp tulips with black Staz-on.

Color tulips with pitt pastel pencils first then colored pencils.

Stamp bird on branch with black staz-on. Clean off stamp then ink only front of the branch and stamp around bird and bottom of tulips.
I added more detail to the girl and tulips with a size 01 black micron pen.

Below are more photos of the other pages I did using similar techniques.

This page was done with watercolors and chalks. The word background was stamped with the grey gelato.

Don't forget to head over to the Penny Black Blog for more inspiration and a chance to win some prizes. From there you can head over to Faber-Castell where they have even more chances to win!

  1. Angela, they are beautiful.Terrific walk through on your process. How kind of you to allow your readers to use your artful image. I am no artist, so I rely heavily on premade things like stamps and digital graphics. This is so much better. Keep smiling and creating.
